About South Roanoke Nursing Home

South Roanoke Nursing Home is locally owned and operated. After reading many articles about a more modern type nursing home, Mr. Charles (Ed) Carter felt the concept was needed in the Roanoke area; and in 1962 plans were drawn and building began. In September, of 1964, South Roanoke Nursing Home opened and began offering top quality nursing home care to Roanoke Valley residents.

South Roanoke was founded upon family principles and continues to operate according to those same principles. Approximately one-third of the staff has been employed over ten years, this longevity encourages a family environment; and we strive to envelop our residents and their families into our South Roanoke family.
